The Wollar Solar battery energy storage system (BESS) has reached an important milestone. The Department of Planning, Housing and Infrastructure (DPHI) has officially approved the modification application following an extensive assessment process. The approval lifts the project’s permitted BESS capacity to 280MW with two hours of storage, which will help strengthen the reliability of NSW’s energy grid by storing solar power for use when it’s needed most, during evening and morning peaks.
