Wollar Solar Farm Sponsorship Program provides boost for local events

  • Four local projects and events supported in first round of Wollar Solar Farm Sponsorship Program.
  • Number of submissions exceeds expectations.
  • The Wollar Solar Farm Sponsorship Program provides financial support to community groups and charities in the Central West Region.

Wollar Solar Farm today announced the first successful projects and events that will receive funding support from the Solar Farm’s Sponsorship Program.

The program was developed to assist projects and events that contribute to the social, economic and cultural wellbeing of the community, providing Wollar Solar Farm with the opportunity to partner with community organisations.

Head of Corporate Affairs and Investor Relations, Mr Karl Schubert, said the number and quality of submissions far exceeded the Company’s expectations.

“More than 20 submissions were received for the first round of funding, with applications ranging from the arts to community markets, sporting and community events and more,” Mr Schubert said.

“We are very pleased with the response we’ve received from the local community for the program, and we are looking forward to supporting the first-round recipients over the coming months.”

The successful Round 1 applicants are:

  1. Mudgee Business Chamber of Commerce – Magic of Christmas in Mudgee Event
  2. Mid-Western Region Community Music Association – Mid West Music Quest
  3. Mudgee Touch Association – Junior Development Program
  4. Riding for the Disabled – End of Year Presentation

“Congratulations to these four recipients and a sincere thanks to all of the organisations that submitted projects and events for consideration,” Mr Schubert said.

“The quality of the submissions was very good and made the final decision extremely challenging, which is a sign of the high calibre of local organisations, community events and projects that are out there.

“We encourage those organisations that were unsuccessful in this first round, to remain engaged with us and re-submit applications in the coming rounds.

“Organisations and community groups are also encouraged to submit applications for in-kind support, material donations or volunteer assistance as we recognise these types of contributions can be just as valuable as financial assistance.”

One of the successful applicants was Riding for the Disabled, which is a voluntary, non-profit organisation providing opportunities for anyone with a disability to enjoy safe, healthy, therapeutic, horse-related activities in Australia.

Secretary of Riding for the Disabled, Diane Burnicle said: “We would like to thank Wollar Solar Farm so very much for its generous sponsorship. This will be a really special event for the community and we are very appreciative of your support.”

Wollar Solar Farm has allocated $32,000 across four funding rounds from 2023 through to January 2025.

Applications for Round 2 will open on 1 November 2023 and will close on 31 January 2024. Applications must be submitted online or via email. If organisations, individuals or community groups require assistance with their submission, please contact info@wollarsolar.com.au or call 1800 700 743.
