The Mid-West Music Quest is a popular annual event in Mudgee and it’s growing every year. Wollar Solar Farm were proud to be involved as sponsors for this year’s quest which took place on the 19th of July, having provided funding through Round 2 of the Community Sponsorship Program.
The Mid-West Music Quest gives up and coming music performers a chance to display their skills and perform in front of a crowd, while also raising funds for local charities.
Wollar Solar Farm Site Manager Bernie James said: “The event was well supported by the community. I was pleased to have a chance to go along with the Environmental Manager from our site contractor Sunterra, Emily Scanlon, and her young family including her daughter who was encouraged to sit still because she thought she was watching Taylor Swift. It was a great night and all the performers did really well!”
Eight finalists, pictured here, were selected from a strong field of contestants who had auditioned at earlier events in Gulgong and Mudgee. Their outstanding efforts on the night presented a serious challenge for the judging panel, who included two country and western performers, one of whom is currently touring with Troy Cassar Daly, a local high school music teacher, and another who travelled from Griffith for the event.
Bernie continued, “We heard some amazing voices but the winner, Jemima Lee, was a cut above, obviously getting professional coaching on vocals, stage presence and interview skills. Tom Baggett won ‘The People’s Choice’ award. Sam Crow, who only started performing as a singer/guitarist 3 months ago, won an encouragement award, as did Josephine Gilbert.”
